Fairfield Egan offers an excellent blend of both theoretical knowledge and clinical experience. The School views clinical experiences as an important part of your academic experience, allowing you to apply classroom theories to real-world situations. Throughout their time here at Fairfield, students gain clinical and internship experiences at area hospitals, community health and home care agencies, and schools.

Clinical Affiliations

Students obtain their clinical experience at the following approved clinical sites. Students gain hands-on experience with general, regional, and peripheral nerve block techniques under the close supervision of a supportive team of CRNA and MD clinical faculty.

In addition to routine cases, our nurse anesthesia students gain experience in trauma, major burn, and high-risk obstetrical cases. Enrichment rotations are provided to further enhance clinical experiences and cases. Students will rotate to a minimum of two clinical sites during their clinical rotations.

Simulation Center

Being at the forefront of healthcare, Fairfield Egan expanded its innovative simulation pedagogy over the last several years through a new state-of-the-art simulation center as part of students’ clinical education. The simulation labs feature high-fidelity simulators, control rooms, and actors as standardized patients. Fairfield’s faculty has fully integrated simulation education into the nursing and health studies curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Working in a control room, the faculty establishes scenarios involving patients, evolving health conditions, and families, for students to learn how to react to a range of different clinical situations.
